Welcome to my first blog! Well, Laura Mae is me! I’m going to tell you a little bit about myself so we can get to that not awkward first name basis. I’m what one might call a young, naive traveller. I am learning but then again, that’s where a lot of the fun is! Life is simply crazy and you cannot just put it in a keepsake jar on the shelf and expect it to stay the way it is for very long. Everything is always changing and that is one of the only things that is constant.
Well anyways, I was born and raised in the great city of Columbus, Ohio. I have always had an adventurous spirit and am always ready to learn something new. The coolest thing about me before anything else is the reason why I am able to do what I do, be who I am, and have the opportunities that I do. It is my most reliable friend who has had my back from before I was even made in the wound – the big G. My God is one of love. Period. I want to reflect that in all that I do, say, and believe.
Since the moment I was born to the moment that I am writing this very blog post, I have lived in the United States most of my life, 6 months studying and travelling in Europe, and 4 months studying in Costa Rica. I have graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, a small but humble school in the middle of cornville, Ohio (It’s not actually cornville but there is a lot of corn!… and cows). I have two fantastic parents, two younger sisters, and probably the most hilarious fourteen year old as my brother. I play the trombone, and am learning the ukulele. My favorite music is jazz and I attempt to speak Spanish.
What am I doing currently? I work full time as an administrative assistant, I play in a symphonic community band (Ooo exciting!), I am in grad school pursuing a masters of Intercultural Studies, and I am preparing to live as a volunteer missionary in Zagreb, Croatia in just a few short months.
Long story short, I love life. This is especially true when discovering something new. This time, this “new” thing is blogging. I want to invite you to share in this part of my journey with me.
Peace and blessings,
